a predator in my chicken coop
This is a first for me but it explains alot. I was able to get a sheet over it and let him out safely hopefully not to kill anymore of the chickens. He got a free pass cause he was so cool, but only 1

here is the inside of our chicken coop we have a small back yard flock of hens and 1 rooster . we keep the rooster seperate he is a little mean and the wife is afraid he will spur someone so this hen house is just for the Hens.
I had an idea the other day to do this, even though the money spent made it a luxury item, I think it will pay out more in time saved and less damage to the plants in the garden from trying to run the hose in it. I lost some branches off of some tomato plants the other day due to dragging the hose over them and I’m sure this will help
Vid was taken in winter of 09 I built this chicken coop using 2 interior doors and scrap wood from a local construction job. The siding was a freebie from craigslist, and the two windows were scavenged from the dump. All in all the only thing I needed to buy was a 12 foot 2×4, hinges for the windows, some chicken wire, and some foam insulation for all the gaps. The roost was made from a closet rod. I have since recieved a 12 foot by 12 by 12 by 8 by 8 six foot tall dog pen for free to give them a large area to run when they are locked in. I let them free range when I’m home but due to some dog attacks I keep them in the pen otherwise. The sliding door is not on any tracks it just slides freely and has been working ok for about a year. This coop holds my 8 hens in comfort, and was intentionally left on the small side for the cold New Hampshire winters, so they could stay warm with their body heat. The drop light seen had been used on the very cold nights and was on a timer during the short winter days, so they would still produce eggs, but they keep pecking the bulb out, so I will need to think up something better for next winter.
I build a very simple little chicken coop out of free wood shelving in about 15 or 20 minutes for the little chicks. The way I ended up placing it only the chicks can fit through the hole to enter it none of the larger chickens. This gives the little ones a place to run and hide when the big ones get to rough on them.
How I keep my chickens My backyard coop and run setup. I now have 15 chickens and 2 roosters, see the video response to see an updated video of this coop. The one from redneckresponder
As I mentioned in another video, a friend of mine had this dog kennel in his yard and asked if I could use it for anything, he would’nt take any money so I traded him a cup of coffee for it, I think I did alright
I reached in to the egg box to grab an egg, and was surprised by this opossum instead! I live in Vermont, so this is a northern possum. My chicken gets pissed off and lets him know.
