We had 3 of our chickens killed by a fox attack in March 2011 and so we are very wary about monitoring our omlet chicken house for fox activity. Here we see a rogue urban fox cub on patrol spending a good 13 minutes investigating the hen house. It did not find its way in. Never the less, this fox activity makes us nervous for our 3 hens who are cuddled up asleep inside. This CCTV footage is from a low quality CCTV camera which is mounted to monitor the chickens in motion detection mode.

Interiors usually have nest boxes for egg laying, and also perches for the birds to sleep on. Coops for meat birds often have neither of these features. There may also be an attached outdoor run, and both the interior and exterior floor of the chicken coop is often covered with a material, such as straw or wood chips, to contain the chicken waste and to allow easier cleanup of the chicken coop. Most have some kind of ventilation to help air out any odors that may occur.
here is the inside of our chicken coop we have a small back yard flock of hens and 1 rooster . we keep the rooster seperate he is a little mean and the wife is afraid he will spur someone so this hen house is just for the Hens.

Hi my name is John. I made this site after I moved into my new house. It had a bit of land so I built my own coop for those little egg laying chooks.
It looks really great, its safe and good for the environment so my kids think I am a total handyman! I got all the instructions from one site and there's loads to suit any ideas you have.
