Who Am I?
Hi there, my name is John and welcome to my site!
It was in the spring of 2007 where I was lucky enough to move house just on the edge of a beautiful green belt. My new home had some land and as a green fingered gardener I thought this was heaven.
I always looked after my lawn and flower beds and I had always grown different types of fruit and vegetables in the summer. But now with a bit of extra land I was determined to keep some chickens.The idea of heading out in the morning to pick a few fresh eggs from the pen just seemed fantastic and I’m so glad I followed through with my little dream.
There were a few places close to where I lived where I could go and buy a chicken coop but there were none that I liked and they will always in the higher end of the price range. Plus I really like the idea of being able to build my own, this way I knew where all the materials came from and I knew they were safe for animals I was going to house.
I found some really good plans online and followed these to the teeth. They told me exactly what materials to buy and use and exactly what dimensions I should go for. All I did was follow the step-by-step manual and now my whole family thinks I’m some kind of woodworking genius!
Who am I to argue!?
Having some chickens that lay eggs is satisfying enough, but seeing them inside a garden building that I created makes it that little extra special.
So I thought, hey if I can do it unless tell a few people about it. Plus this site looks great in my family and friends again!
